The Memphis site, referred to as the “Colossus” buildout, is central to xAI’s strategy to compete in the generative AI space by supporting the Grok model. SpaceX President Gwynne Shotwell confirmed that Musk has been directly involved in construction oversight and the integration of graphics processing units (GPUs).
