The Pokémon Company has confirmed that the latest Pokémon Trading Card Game expansion, Pitch Black, is scheduled for an official English-language release on July 17, 2026. The set is based on the Japanese sister set Abyss Eye, which provides a clear look at the content players can expect upon launch.

The Pitch Black expansion features a robust lineup of over 115 cards. Key highlights include six new Mega Evolution Pokémon ex, four standard Pokémon ex, and 11 illustration rare cards. Collectors will also find 18 ultra-rare cards and six special illustration rare Supporter cards, alongside more than 20 Trainer cards.

Prerelease events are set to begin on July 4, 2026, at participating local game stores. Players attending these events will have the opportunity to acquire prerelease promotional cards featuring Dhelmise, Slowbro, Miraidon, and Bastiodon. Additionally, the Elite Trainer Box (ETB) will include an exclusive Zarude promo card, with a special Pokémon Center-stamped version available in the store-exclusive edition of the box.

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Pokémon franchise, the set includes a unique “What’s your Favorite?” promotional campaign. Customers who purchase $15 or more of Pokémon TCG products at participating retailers will receive exclusive stamped cards while supplies last. Primarina will be available at Hot Topic, Barnes & Noble, and BoxLunch; Zarude will be distributed at GameStop, EB Games, and other partner retailers; and Armarouge will be available at Best Buy and JB Hi-Fi.
