A Return to Muskoka
Prime Video has officially renewed its young adult drama Sterling Point for a second season, following a strong audience reception since the show’s series debut on August 5, 2026. The series, which features a Manhattan teenager discovering her family history in Ontario’s Muskoka cottage country, has quickly become a notable performer for the streaming platform.
The announcement confirms that creator Megan Park will return to lead the creative team, with Amazon MGM Studios continuing production. The show’s production is a collaborative effort involving LuckyChap Entertainment—led by Tom Ackerley and Dani Gorin—and Fake Empire, helmed by veteran showrunners Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage.
Creative Vision and Production Stakes
The success of the first season, which spanned eight episodes, has been attributed by producers to the show’s authentic portrayal of Canadian cottage culture and its character-driven narrative. Megan Park, who grew up summering in the Muskoka region, designed the series to highlight the geography of Lake Muskoka, Lake Rousseau, and Lake Joseph. According to Park, the goal was to craft a story that resonated with viewers through genuine emotional stakes rather than just aesthetic appeal.
Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, known for their work on seminal teen dramas like Gossip Girl, emphasized the collaborative nature of the project. In a statement, the executive producers credited the ensemble cast—led by Ella Rubin as Annie Jacobson—for the show’s ability to capture audience interest. The producers noted that the upcoming season will continue to explore the complex dynamics between the characters, including the aftermath of the significant narrative shifts that concluded the first season.
Narrative Context and Cast
The first season followed 17-year-old Annie Jacobson as she navigated the discovery of a secret sister, Ramona, played by Amélie Hoeferle, and the inheritance of their grandfather’s island estate. The season finale introduced a major status quo shift: the sisters decided to swap places, with Annie remaining at Sterling Point to investigate their late mother’s history, while Ramona traveled to Manhattan to take Annie’s place with their adoptive father, Steven Jacobson, portrayed by Jay Duplass.
The ensemble cast, which also features Jacob Whiteduck-Lavoie, Bo Bragason, Keen Ruffalo, Nikko Angelo Hinayo, Mabel Strachan, Elle-Maija Tailfeathers, and Missi Pyle, is expected to return for the second installment. Production is slated to return to Ontario, maintaining the series’ commitment to its foundational setting.
Peter Friedlander, head of global television at Amazon MGM Studios, stated that the decision to renew the series was driven by its strong global viewership and the distinct creative vision established by the show’s production partners. As the production moves into its next phase, the focus remains on deepening the character arcs established during the initial eight-episode run.
