According to reports from The Mirror and cited by GB News, the couple is expected to travel for the 2026 Earthshot Prize ceremony, marking their first joint overseas engagement since the Princess began her treatment for cancer in 2024.
Since stepping back from public life in January 2024, the Princess has maintained a cautious approach to her return. While she resumed select duties in early 2025—including a visit to Italy focused on early childhood education—the India trip would represent a more substantial commitment to the international stage that characterized her work prior to her diagnosis.
The Earthshot Connection
The Earthshot Prize, launched by Prince William in 2021, has become a flagship initiative for the couple. While the Princess has remained involved in the project’s background, she has not attended the live ceremony since the Boston event in 2022. She subsequently missed the ceremonies in Singapore, Cape Town, and Rio de Janeiro. Her presence in India would end a four-year absence from the live event, emphasizing the importance of the host country to the prize’s mission.
