Diplomatic Vehicle Accident in Sari Tagh: What We Know So Far

On February 20th, Yerevan became the scene of a car accident involving Sergey Kopirkin, the Russian Ambassador to Armenia. The incident occurred on street number 20, near School #70 in the Sari Tagh district, as reported by photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan from the location.

Icy Roads Suspected Cause: Injuries and Hospitalization

Preliminary reports indicate that the ambassador’s official Toyota vehicle veered off the road and crashed. Two individuals, the driver and a passenger, sustained injuries and were promptly transported to one of the capital’s hospitals. While law enforcement officials at the scene have not yet disclosed the identities of the injured, sources from Gagik Shamshyan suggest that the Russian Ambassador himself was in the back seat of the car.

The primary suspected cause of the accident is icy road conditions. Unfavorable weather, leading to black ice, is believed to be the main factor causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle.

Official Statements Pending: Further Developments

Currently, police and investigative teams are working at the accident site. Official statements are expected from the Russian Embassy in Armenia and the Armenian Police to clarify the circumstances of the accident and the condition of those injured. Azat TV is closely monitoring the developments and will provide further details as they become available.
