Scotiabank has officially announced the appointment of two senior executives to its Caribbean South and East operations. According to notices filed with the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange, Ambica Bissessar has been named Head of Retail Banking for the region, while Ingram Bain has been appointed as Director of Compliance. Both appointments became effective on April 1, 2026.
Ambica Bissessar brings nearly 20 years of experience to her new role, having served in various capacities across treasury, trade finance, and commercial banking within the institution. She holds a postgraduate qualification in Business Administration from the Edinburgh Business School. Her leadership comes as the bank navigates a period of financial adjustment, with Scotiabank Trinidad and Tobago Ltd recently reporting a 4% decrease in income after taxation for the first quarter of 2026, totaling $161 million.
Ingram Bain, a veteran banking professional with 35 years of industry experience, will take on the role of Chief Compliance Officer. He succeeds Denesh Abraham, who held the position on an interim basis since January 2026. Bain, who holds an MBA from the University of Derby, brings extensive expertise in regulatory compliance, internal audit, and branch banking to the oversight role.
