BBC Radio 4 has announced an upcoming one-off special, The Call Of Cthudo, a creative fusion of the classic board game Cluedo and the cosmic horror of H.P. Lovecraft. Scheduled for release this October, the 44-minute production features a cast led by British comedy stalwarts Stephen Mangan and Mark Heap.
Written by James Henry, the plot follows a group of color-themed strangers trapped in a country house, tasked with solving a murder mystery that quickly descends into supernatural chaos. According to production details, Mark Heap will portray the character of Mister Violet, while Stephen Mangan takes on the role of Lord Black. The ensemble cast also includes Sukh Ojla as Doctor Green, Madelyn Smedley as Miss Pink, and Ukweli Roach as Lieutenant Blue.
The production, handled by Katherine Beacon and Eloise Whitmore at Naked Productions, is noted for its stylistic commitment to 1930s detective tropes and the inclusion of a “Lovecraftian sea shanty.” For fans of the actors, this project marks another collaboration between Mangan and Heap, who are also currently working on the second series of Green Wing: Resuscitated, a continuation of their popular sitcom available on Audible.
