A teenage cyclist was killed on Tuesday afternoon following a collision with a tractor-trailer in Saint-Hyacinthe, according to local authorities. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene at Boulevard Laframboise at approximately 1:30 p.m.

Preliminary investigations suggest the tractor-trailer was turning northbound onto Boulevard Laframboise from Rue Martineau when it struck the cyclist, who was traveling in the same direction. Police indicate that the truck driver likely did not see the cyclist at the time of the maneuver.

The young cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the truck was transported to a local hospital for treatment related to shock. A collision reconstruction team was deployed to the site to investigate the exact circumstances of the incident.

Local authorities implemented significant traffic detours, closing Boulevard Laframboise between Martineau Street and Allaire. Motorists were advised to avoid Exit 130 from Highway 20 toward the affected area while the investigation remained ongoing.
