Tower Transit Singapore has confirmed it will lodge a police report following an incident where a passenger filmed and harassed a bus captain for allegedly driving too slowly. The incident, which occurred on Service 984, saw the passenger confront the driver while the bus was in operation, demanding he increase his speed because the passenger was late for class.
In the 55-second video posted to TikTok, the driver maintained his composure, explaining that he was adhering to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and maintaining a scheduled pace to ensure consistent spacing between buses. Despite the driver’s professional responses, the passenger continued to record him and insisted that the driver was not following proper procedure.
Tower Transit Singapore later reviewed the footage and confirmed the bus captain was operating exactly according to the planned schedule. The company publicly commended the driver for his professional handling of the situation and expressed concern that the passenger’s actions distracted the driver, creating a safety risk for all passengers on board. The transport operator emphasized that bus captains must be allowed to perform their duties without fear of intimidation or online abuse, urging commuters to use official feedback channels for any concerns.
