Condé Nast has officially announced that the 2027 iteration of its flagship fashion event, Vogue World, will take place in San Francisco. The choice of city marks the latest expansion for the production, which has previously held high-profile showcases in New York, London, Paris, and Los Angeles.
Anna Wintour, Condé Nast’s chief content officer and global editorial director of Vogue, cited San Francisco’s unique cultural landscape as the primary driver for the selection. “Vogue believes in celebrating cities, and San Francisco is a city like none other,” Wintour stated. She specifically noted the city’s history of “rebelliousness” and its commitment to innovation and values as qualities that align with the event’s vision.
San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie welcomed the announcement, framing the event as a significant boost for the city’s post-pandemic economic recovery. According to the Mayor’s office, the creative sector—including designers, musicians, and small businesses—has been instrumental in revitalizing the local economy. The city anticipates that the event will further strengthen its artistic ecosystem and attract international attention.
The announcement follows months of speculation, which intensified in June 2026 when Wintour was spotted in the city’s North Beach neighborhood with a film crew. The 2027 event will continue the tradition established by previous iterations, such as the 2025 “Vogue World: Hollywood” event at the Paramount lot, which featured performances by artists including Doja Cat and Gracie Abrams.
Prior to the San Francisco event, Vogue World is scheduled to take place in Milan on September 22, 2026, at the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. That show, directed by Juan Costa Paz of the creative agency Convoy, will focus on themes of craftsmanship and human ingenuity. Further details regarding the specific venue and programming for the San Francisco show are expected to be released in the coming months.
