The Wales Airshow returns to the Swansea waterfront this weekend, July 25-26, 2026, with organizers anticipating an attendance of over 200,000 visitors. The event, a staple of the city’s summer calendar, combines high-octane aerial maneuvers over Swansea Bay with ground-level festivities, including food vendors, market stalls, and live music.
A significant highlight for the 2026 edition is the introduction of ‘Afterburn,’ a new evening program scheduled for Saturday night. Running from 8:00 pm to 9:50 pm, this sunset segment promises pyrotechnic-enhanced aerial displays from the Otto Helicopter and the Firebirds. The evening will conclude with a synchronized 200-drone show and a fireworks display.
Saturday and Sunday Flight Schedules
Saturday’s main aerial program begins at 1:45 pm with the RAF Tutor Display Team and continues until 5:20 pm. The evening ‘Afterburn’ session follows later that night. Sunday’s displays are scheduled between 12:00 pm and 3:18 pm, focusing on daytime aerobatics without an evening component.
Saturday, July 25: Highlights include the RAF Typhoon at 4:48 pm, the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight at 5:00 pm, and the Afterburn finale featuring the RAF Typhoon at 8:55 pm, Firebirds at 9:18 pm, and the drone/fireworks grand finale at 9:50 pm.
Sunday, July 26: The day begins with the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight at 12:00 pm, followed by the Starlings Display Team, Navywings formation, and ending with the RAF Typhoon at 3:18 pm.
Red Arrows Absence
Despite the packed schedule, the event will notably lack the Red Arrows, the Royal Air Force’s world-renowned aerobatic team. The squadron is currently stationed in the United States to commemorate 250 years of American independence. Throughout June and July, the team is fulfilling performance commitments across Maryland, New York, Wisconsin, Maine, and Michigan. Their absence has sparked social media debate among enthusiasts, as the team is typically a primary draw for the Swansea event.
