A driver was airlifted to a hospital with major injuries following a head-on collision with a dump truck in Yolo County on Monday afternoon, July 6, 2026. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the incident occurred at approximately 3:20 p.m. on County Road 29, between County Roads 102 and 101A.
Authorities reported that the driver of a Honda was traveling eastbound in the westbound lane when the vehicle slammed head-on into the oncoming dump truck. The force of the impact left the Honda driver trapped within the wreckage. Emergency responders arrived on the scene and utilized extrication equipment to free the individual before transporting them via air ambulance for urgent medical treatment.
The driver of the dump truck was reported to be uninjured in the collision. County Road 29 was temporarily closed to traffic as investigators documented the scene and crews worked to clear the debris and damaged vehicles.
The California Highway Patrol is currently leading the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. Officials have stated that it is not yet clear why the driver was operating the vehicle in the wrong lane, and it remains unknown at this stage whether impairment by drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident.
