Man Utd plotting Timo Werner, Moussa Dembele and Ousmane Dembele January transfers

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already admitted he needs to add a striker in January.

After notching four past Chelsea on the Premier League’s opening weekend the Red Devils have failed to score more than once in a game.

Marcus Rashford remains the club’s leading marksman, but two of his three goals have come from the penalty spot.

The club have therefore identified three strikers they will attempt to buy in January in an effort to resolve their issues in attack.

“The Man United manager has mentioned that he would like to buy a striker in January,” host Ian McGarry said on Reach PLC’s Transfer Window podcast this week.

“Having lost, I say lost in inverted commas, Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez because that was careless not replacing them.

“But the three names we have been told from a reliable source, in no particular order, are RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner.

“Lyon’s Moussa Dembele, formerly of Celtic, and Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele, who really has had a bit of a nightmare time since his transfer from Borussia Dortmund.”

None of the aforementioned trio have played in England’s top flight, but all three are highly regarded.

Werner is among Germany’s main striking options and has regularly found the net in the Bundesliga.

Both Dembeles will also be present in Europe’s premier competition this season. Moussa, formerly of Fulham and Celtic, has handled the transition to France well and was of interest to United in the summer.

He managed 20 goals for Lyon last season.

Starsport understands Dembele is United’s primary target, with Ed Woodward ready to sanction a £50m deal.
