A Long-Awaited Festive Collection

Canadian singer-songwriter Alanis Morissette has officially announced her first-ever holiday album, titled Good Weather for Immaculate Conception. The 14-track collection is scheduled for release on November 6 via Epiphany Music and Virgin Music. The announcement, made on October 9, 2026, marks the formal consolidation of a multi-year tradition for the artist, who has released individual seasonal covers annually since 2020. This project serves as a significant addition to her discography, following her 2022 ambient studio album, The Storm Before the Calm.

Alongside the album announcement, Morissette unveiled the project’s lead single, a rendition of “Beautiful Star of Bethlehem” featuring vocal contributions from Brandi Carlile and banjo accompaniment by Steve Martin. This track highlights the collaborative spirit of the record, which features an eclectic mix of artists. The guest list includes comedian Martin Short, singer-songwriter Joy Oladokun, folk artist Amythyst Kiah, and Trans Voices, recognized as the United Kingdom’s first professional ensemble of trans and nonbinary singers.

Building on Annual Traditions

The new LP integrates several of Morissette’s previously released holiday singles, ensuring that fan-favorite tracks find a permanent home on a full-length record. These include her 2020 cover of John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s “Happy Xmas (War Is Over),” her 2022 take on “Little Drummer Boy,” and her 2023 version of “Last Christmas,” among others. These established seasonal tracks are bolstered by two brand-new original compositions written specifically for the project: “Christmas on the Dancefloor” and “To an Empath at Christmas Time.”

The album’s tracklist also features a range of traditional carols and modern classics, such as “O Holy Night,” “Ave Maria,” “What Child is This?,” and a cover of Joni Mitchell’s “River.” During a recent appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast, Morissette characterized the recording process as a “labor of Christmas love,” emphasizing the personal care poured into the collection.

Professional Milestones and Promotional Schedule

The announcement of Good Weather for Immaculate Conception comes during a high-profile year for Morissette. Earlier in 2026, she was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and performed the Canadian national anthem at the World Cup opening ceremony. Her recent live performances have also garnered significant attention, including a surprise appearance at Olivia Rodrigo’s inaugural Daisy Chain Fields festival in August, where the two artists performed a duet of Morissette’s iconic hit “Ironic.”

To support the release of the holiday album, Morissette is scheduled to perform a series of shows at the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles. Her “Butterfly with a Machete” limited residency will take place on November 5, 6, 10, and 11. These dates are strategically aligned with the album’s arrival, providing a platform for the artist to showcase the new material to live audiences. Pre-orders for the collection are currently available, inviting fans to experience this new chapter in Morissette’s evolving musical career.
