The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced a nationwide recall of 58,405 cases of Park St. Deli Macaroni & Cheese sold at Aldi stores. The recall, identified as number H-0940-2026, was initiated due to the presence of an undeclared soy lecithin allergen. The affected product is sold in 20 oz (567g) plastic tubs inside a paperboard sleeve.
Consumer Safety Advice
Consumers who have purchased the product are urged to check their pantry. Those with a soy allergy should not consume the item. Customers should dispose of the product or return it to their local Aldi store for a full refund. The recall affects stores across the United States, including nearly 56 locations in South Carolina.
Logistical Challenges and Expansion
This safety measure comes as the German discount retailer concurrently pursues a significant growth strategy. While managing the product recall, Aldi is also promoting a ‘mystery box’ giveaway in the U.S. and executing a major expansion in the United Kingdom. The company plans to open 16 new stores in the UK in the coming months, supported by a £370 million investment fund for 2026. Aldi currently operates approximately 2,800 stores in the U.S. and aims to reach 3,200 locations by the end of 2028, balancing aggressive growth with rigorous product safety oversight.
