Biman Bangladesh Airlines has placed an order for 11 additional Boeing aircraft, comprising five 787-10 Dreamliners and six 737-8s, according to Aviation24. The agreement, announced in New York on September 23 during the United Nations General Assembly, follows a previous order for 14 jets earlier this year, bringing the airline’s total 2026 aircraft orders to 25.
The airline aims to utilize the new Dreamliners to increase capacity on its long-haul routes, complementing its existing 787-8 and 787-9 fleet. The 737-8 aircraft are intended to bolster the carrier’s short-haul network. Biman chairman Rumee A. Hossain stated that the acquisition aligns with the airline’s long-term fleet plan, which focuses on enhancing connectivity for business, tourism, and the Bangladeshi expatriate community.
Neither Boeing nor Biman Bangladesh disclosed the financial value of the order or the specific delivery schedule for the new aircraft. Biman currently operates a mixed fleet of Boeing 777s and earlier-generation 737s alongside its newer Dreamliner models.
