Filipino tennis sensation Alexandra Eala continues her stellar grass-court campaign, advancing to the Round of 16 at the Queen’s Club following a 6-3, 6-2 victory over veteran Zhang Shuai on Tuesday. This win marks Eala’s sixth consecutive victory, building on the momentum from her recent title run at the Birmingham Open.
Despite a challenging start where Zhang secured an early 2-0 lead, the 21-year-old Eala regained control by dominating baseline rallies and capitalizing on her first-serve efficiency. Eala won 17 points on her first serve, compared to 10 for the 37-year-old Chinese opponent, eventually closing the match in straight sets.
According to reports from ESPN, Eala’s focus now shifts to a highly anticipated rematch against world No. 19 Iva Jovic. The two players, who are also close friends, last faced each other at the 2026 French Open, where Jovic claimed a 6-4, 6-2 victory. Eala will aim to leverage her current grass-court confidence to reverse that result in their upcoming meeting.
