CUPERTINO, CALIFORNIA (Azat TV) – Apple has officially unveiled the MacBook Neo, an all-new laptop designed to make the Mac experience more accessible than ever with a breakthrough starting price of just $599. Announced on March 4, 2026, the device is now available for pre-order, with general availability set for Wednesday, March 11, marking a significant strategic move by the tech giant to capture a broader market segment.
John Ternus, Apple’s senior vice president of Hardware Engineering, stated that the MacBook Neo delivers “the magic of the Mac at a breakthrough price,” emphasizing its ground-up design for affordability. The launch positions the MacBook Neo as Apple’s most budget-friendly laptop to date, aiming to attract millions of new users worldwide.
MacBook Neo: Apple’s Most Affordable Laptop
The MacBook Neo stands out primarily for its aggressive pricing, starting at $599 for general consumers and an even more accessible $499 for education customers. This makes it a direct challenger in the competitive mid-range laptop market, traditionally dominated by Windows-based PCs. The device features a durable aluminum enclosure available in four distinctive colors: blush, indigo, silver, and a fresh citrus, bringing a vibrant aesthetic previously unseen in the MacBook lineup.
Beyond its price, the MacBook Neo is equipped with a stunning 13-inch Liquid Retina display, boasting a 2408-by-1506 resolution, 500 nits of brightness, and support for 1 billion colors. Apple highlights that this display is both brighter and higher in resolution than most PC laptops in its price range, providing sharp text and vibrant images for various tasks from web browsing to photo editing.
Next-Gen Performance and Design
At the heart of the MacBook Neo is the powerful A18 Pro chip, Apple’s custom silicon designed to offer significant performance improvements. According to Apple’s internal testing, the MacBook Neo is up to 50 percent faster for everyday tasks like web browsing and up to three times faster for on-device AI workloads, such as applying advanced effects to photos, compared to the best-selling PC with the latest Intel Core Ultra 5 processor.
The laptop also delivers impressive battery life, offering up to 16 hours on a single charge, making it an ideal companion for users on the go. It includes a 1080p FaceTime HD camera and dual microphones with directional beamforming for clear video calls, alongside dual side-firing speakers with Spatial Audio for immersive sound. The MacBook Neo runs on macOS Tahoe, integrating Apple Intelligence features like Writing Tools and Live Translation, and offers seamless continuity with iPhone devices, enhancing user productivity and experience.
Sustainable Innovation and Market Impact
In line with Apple’s environmental commitments, the MacBook Neo was designed to be the company’s lowest-carbon MacBook. It incorporates 60 percent recycled content, which is the highest percentage in any Apple product, including 90 percent recycled aluminum and 100 percent recycled cobalt in its battery. The manufacturing process utilizes a material-efficient forming method that uses 50 percent less aluminum compared to traditional techniques, and the device is produced with 45 percent renewable electricity across the supply chain. These efforts push Apple closer to its goal of achieving carbon neutrality across its entire footprint by 2030.
Pre-orders for the MacBook Neo commenced immediately after its announcement on March 4, with availability in Apple Store locations and Apple Authorized Resellers scheduled for March 11 across 30 countries and regions, including the U.S. Customers can also take advantage of Apple Trade In options and AppleCare for extended service and support.
The introduction of the MacBook Neo at a highly competitive price point demonstrates Apple’s strategic intent to broaden its market appeal, challenging the perception of Mac as an exclusively premium product while simultaneously advancing its environmental sustainability goals.
