On January 14, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken signed a strategic partnership agreement between the Republic of Armenia and the United States in Washington, D.C.
“We are establishing a Strategic Partnership Commission, which aims to expand cooperation in the fields of economy, security and defense, democracy, inclusivity, and interpersonal relations,” stated U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken during his remarks.
“The Armenia-U.S. Strategic Partnership Charter, which we are signing today, lays a strong foundation and makes our collaboration more ambitious,” added Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan.
He further noted that the document encompasses numerous areas, including strengthening economic and energy ties, communications, deepening defense and security cooperation, reinforcing democratic institutions, promoting justice and the rule of law, advancing innovation and high technologies, as well as expanding people-to-people connections.
“We deeply value the United States’ steadfast support for Armenia’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. Equally important is the U.S.’s support in strengthening Armenia’s democratic institutions and promoting economic resilience.
We highly appreciate the U.S.’s involvement in fostering stable and lasting peace in the South Caucasus region. We believe that a stable and prosperous South Caucasus serves the interests of all regional stakeholders and the broader international community,” Mirzoyan emphasized.
This landmark document aims to strengthen diplomatic and strategic ties between the two nations, emphasizing deeper cooperation in political, economic, and security sectors.
Ararat Mirzoyan is currently on a working visit to Washington from January 14-15. The signing of this agreement marks a significant milestone in Armenia-U.S. relations, opening a new chapter in bilateral collaboration to address regional and global challenges.
The signing ceremony reflects a shared commitment to advancing common values and objectives, further solidifying the partnership between Armenia and the U.S.
