Mumbai Operations Impacted by Severe Weather
Flight operations at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) remain under significant strain following intense rainfall and low visibility over the weekend. Major carriers, including IndiGo, Air India, Akasa Air, and SpiceJet, have issued travel advisories as they work to manage delays, diversions, and cancellations.
Reports indicate that five Mumbai-bound flights were diverted on Saturday, with several others performing go-arounds due to unstable approach conditions. IndiGo and Air India were among the airlines forced to redirect aircraft to alternate airports, including Surat and Goa. SpiceJet has noted that it is currently experiencing intermittent connectivity issues with its customer service channels, directing passengers to use social media for real-time updates.
Fleet Maintenance Challenges in Southeast Asia
In Malaysia, AirBorneo has warned passengers to expect ongoing schedule volatility across Sabah and Sarawak. The airline stated that a combination of unscheduled technical rectifications and routine maintenance has temporarily constrained its operating fleet. The disruptions, which have persisted since early June, are expected to continue as the airline prioritizes safety checks for its aircraft.
Srinagar Airport Schedule Restoration
Meanwhile, in Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar Airport reported that no commercial flights would operate this Monday. Authorities confirmed that while the previously proposed Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) regarding runway closures has been withdrawn, airlines require additional time to revise and restore their schedules to reflect the updated operational status. Officials have requested passenger patience as carriers finalize these adjustments following the policy shift.
