Azzi Fudd Set for Huskies of Honor Induction at Gampel Pavilion

Former University of Connecticut star guard and Dallas Wings Wrookie Azzi Fudd will officially join the prestigious Huskies of Honor on Sunday, Nov. 8, 2026, ahead of the Huskies’ marquee matchup against the Iowa Hawkeyes at Gampel Pavilion, according to UConn Athletics. The pregame ceremony is scheduled to take place approximately 30 minutes before tip-off at 2 p.m. ET, cementing her legacy among the program’s all-time greats.

To qualify for induction into the Huskies of Honor, a player must graduate with a bachelor’s degree and earn First-Team All-American status. Fudd cleared both benchmarks during her decorated five-year tenure in Storrs, which culminated in a bachelor’s degree in communication in 2024 and a Master of Business Administration in 2026. Last season, she earned First-Team All-American honors from the WBCA, Associated Press, and USBWA, while also capturing the CSC Academic All-America Team Member of the Year and BIG EAST Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards, as detailed by Stamford Advocate.

A Storied Career in Storrs

Arriving on campus as ESPN’s consensus No. 1 overall recruit in the 2021 class out of St. John’s College High School, Fudd overcame early injury setbacks to anchor UConn’s success. During her career, she helped guide the Huskies to the 2025 NCAA national championship, two national championship game appearances, four Final Four berths, and 10 BIG EAST titles. She was named the Most Outstanding Player of the 2025 NCAA Final Four after scoring 19 points against UCLA in the semifinals and 24 points with five rebounds and three steals in the title victory over South Carolina.

In her final collegiate season (2025–26), Fudd averaged 17.3 points, 2.6 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 2.5 steals per game while shooting 48.1% from the field and 44.7% from beyond the arc—good for fifth-best nationwide. She departs the program ranking first all-time in career free-throw percentage at 92.5%, fifth in career 3-pointers made (292), seventh in career 3-point percentage (42.2%), and 21st in career points with 1,687.

Transition to the WNBA and Professional Milestones

Following her collegiate career, Fudd was selected with the No. 1 overall pick by the Dallas Wings in the 2026 WNBA Draft, becoming the seventh former Husky to be drafted first overall. Despite her rookie campaign being cut short due to ongoing soreness in her right knee, she made an immediate impact in the professional ranks. Fudd averaged 13.1 points and 1.7 steals per game—leading all league rookies in steals—and earned a spot on the Associated Press WNBA All-Rookie Team. She also made history during All-Star Weekend by becoming the first rookie to win the WNBA 3-Point Contest.

Fudd will become the 25th women’s basketball player inducted into the Huskies of Honor, joining legendary alumni such as Diana Taurasi, Sue Bird, Breanna Stewart, Maya Moore, and Paige Bueckers, alongside her former teammate Aaliyah Edwards, who was inducted last season. Following the ceremony on November 8, Fudd and the UConn community will look forward to the continuation of the college basketball season as the program honors one of its most prolific perimeter shooters and leaders.
