A New Approach to Fitness
Brandy Ledford, the 57-year-old actress best known for her role as lifeguard Dawn Masterton in Baywatch: Hawaii, has offered a candid look at the philosophy behind her physical and mental well-being. Speaking with Fox News Digital, Ledford explained that while her commitment to maintaining a “swimsuit-ready” physique remains strong, her methodology has undergone a significant evolution to prioritize long-term health.
The actress, who continues to engage with fans through platforms like Passes and upcoming wellness retreats, revealed that she has moved away from the high-intensity, light-weight yoga sculpt routines she favored in recent years. Instead, she is now focusing heavily on traditional weight training. “When you get to be my age, you need to lift weights for bone density and longevity,” Ledford stated, noting that her doctor has specifically recommended transitioning to heavier weights to strengthen both bone and muscle mass.
Despite this shift toward heavy lifting, she maintains a balanced routine that includes daily walks, hiking, and continued practice of yoga. For Ledford, this physical discipline is part of a broader lifestyle that she has cultivated since her time filming in Hawaii, where beach-based workouts and intensive swimming were daily requirements.
The Intersection of Inner and Outer Health
Ledford attributes her consistent appearance to an “inside-out” approach. Having been sober for 14 years, she credits her faith, daily meditation, and prayer as the foundational elements of her vitality. “I value what I look like on the outside because I value so much of the work I do on the inside,” she explained. When asked about her beauty routine, she jokingly summarized it as “Botox and bleach,” but emphasized that true maintenance involves hydration, skincare, and maintaining a positive outlook.
Looking back at her iconic role, Ledford recounted the strict physical demands placed on the cast, which included stamina tests like holding one’s breath underwater—a challenge that prompted her to quit smoking at the time. She expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming Baywatch reboot, offering advice to the new cast: “Stay hydrated, wear sunscreen, work out, and feel comfortable in your body.”
