The Kochi City Police have initiated a preliminary investigation following the discovery of the message “I Love Pakistan” engraved inside a vessel currently undergoing maintenance at Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL). According to police sources, the incident was reported by shipyard authorities on June 12 after employees noticed the inscription on an internal bulkhead of the ship.
Ernakulam Town South police are currently interviewing staff, including permanent employees and third-party contractors, to identify who had access to the vessel. Officials noted that the specific area lacks CCTV coverage, complicating the identification process. While CSL has not issued a formal public statement, internal security teams are conducting a parallel investigation.
The incident carries significant security implications due to CSL’s role as a critical facility for the Indian Navy. The shipyard is responsible for the construction and maintenance of major naval assets, including warships and aircraft carriers. Given these stakes, central investigation agencies are expected to review the breach. This discovery follows prior security concerns at the facility, including a notable 2025 case where contract employees were arrested for allegedly leaking sensitive naval data to Pakistani contacts.
