According to Food Safety News, the decision follows multiple consumer reports regarding the presence of foreign materials, specifically small stones and other hard objects, identified within the cashew inclusions of the product.
The recall affects pint containers marked with SKU number 136603 and UPC number 744473476138. Consumers are advised to check their products for a “best-by” date of April 3, 2028, or earlier. Any items matching these criteria should not be consumed due to the potential risk of dental or internal injury posed by the hard foreign material.
The company stated that the issue was identified through direct consumer complaints. The recall is limited to the specific batches described; products currently being shipped and those unaffected by the identified quality issue remain safe for consumption and continue to be available in retail locations across the United States. Danone has not reported any injuries associated with the consumption of the affected batches at this time.
