The company responsible for managing Dolly Parton’s professional affairs, She’s Alive LLC, has filed a lawsuit in Davidson County Chancery Court seeking a restraining order against the singer’s nephew, Bryan Seaver. The filing, submitted on September 22, alleges that Seaver has engaged in a sustained campaign of harassment and intimidation targeting the estate’s staff, legal counsel, and business partners, according to The Tennessean.
Seaver, who previously provided security for the late country music icon, gained public attention on August 25 when he recorded and posted the official announcement of Parton’s death. The lawsuit claims that Seaver has leveraged this public profile to demand compensation, allegedly threatening to sabotage Parton’s brand and partnerships if his financial demands were not met.
Allegations of Intimidation
The court documents describe a pattern of behavior that reportedly escalated following Parton’s death. She’s Alive LLC alleges that Seaver, who has a background in private military contracting, repeatedly invoked his experience as a “security operative” and “international arms dealer” to instill fear among those managing the estate. In one instance documented in the filing, Seaver allegedly sent a message stating, “All I do is warfare,” and claimed to be an “international arms dealer and mercenary” while warning that “everyone needs to be worried about what I might do.”
The pressure reportedly caused significant operational disruptions. According to the Associated Press, the estate’s trusts-and-estates attorney resigned due to the nature of the communications, and several employees of She’s Alive LLC stepped down, citing concerns for their personal safety. The company has since been forced to retain private security for its remaining staff.
Seaver’s Response
While Seaver did not respond to initial attempts for comment, he later defended his professional history in comments to TMZ, stating, “I am a career soldier and military contractor and do conduct arms deals for foreign governments. I am a security professional and I am a killer.” The lawsuit, filed by attorney Timothy Warnock, seeks to prohibit Seaver from coming within 1,000 feet of any She’s Alive LLC personnel or business associates.
Next Steps in Court
Davidson County Chancellor I’Ashea Myles is currently reviewing the request for a temporary restraining order. If granted, the order would legally bar Seaver from contacting estate staff or interfering with business relationships. Seaver is required to file a formal response to the court within 30 days. The court will likely schedule a subsequent hearing to determine if a longer-term temporary injunction is warranted.
