Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in Eastern Road Crash
A person has sustained serious injuries following a collision involving a motorbike and a car on Eastern Road in Hampshire on the morning of Saturday, July 25. Emergency services, including police and highways personnel, responded to the incident, which occurred around 10:51 AM.
The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary confirmed that officers were dispatched to the scene following reports of the crash. “One person has suffered serious injuries. Officers are currently at the scene and investigations are ongoing,” a spokesperson stated.
The impact of the crash led to significant disruption on the A2030 Eastern Road, which was blocked in both directions between the A27 junction and Grove Road. The AA Traffic Map indicated slow-moving traffic in the affected area, although nearby routes remained relatively clear.
In a visible display of the severity of the injuries, an air ambulance was deployed and landed in a nearby car park to provide advanced medical assistance. Pictures from the scene showed police vehicles and highway recovery services present, with an area near the Grove Road bus stop cordoned off from the public.
## Audi Driver Arrested for Multiple Offenses on Eastern Road
This incident follows a separate event on the same major road just days earlier. On Wednesday, July 22, a motorist was arrested on Eastern Road after exhibiting “unusual driving behaviour” that caught the attention of officers from the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Roads Policing Unit.
The driver of an Audi Q7 was stopped by police as they observed erratic driving patterns while the vehicle was exiting the city via Eastern Road. Upon stopping the vehicle, officers discovered that the driver possessed neither insurance nor a valid driving licence.
Further investigations into the circumstances surrounding the Audi Q7 revealed grounds for a suspicion of TWOC (Taking Without Owner’s Consent). Consequently, the driver was arrested on suspicion of this offense. The vehicle was also seized by authorities.
The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Roads Policing Unit highlighted the incident as part of their ongoing proactive patrols aimed at identifying offenders, removing uninsured drivers from the roads, and enhancing safety within Hampshire’s communities.
