A New Approach to Urban Performance

British electronic music pioneer Norman Cook, widely known as Fatboy Slim, has officially confirmed his return to Australia in March 2027. According to Tempo, the tour will span seven dates across four major cities, departing from traditional arena and festival circuit conventions in favor of more intimate, industrial, and unconventional urban spaces.

The tour itinerary begins on March 3 at Esplanade Park in Fremantle, followed by a three-night residency at Sydney’s heritage-listed Carriageworks from March 5 to 7. The schedule continues to Brisbane on March 10 for a performance at the ‘On The Banks’ festival held at the South Bank Forecourt, and concludes with two final shows at ‘The Underpass’ in Melbourne on March 12 and 13. As reported by Cultr, ‘The Underpass’ is a newly designated outdoor event space situated beneath elevated transport infrastructure at 542 Footscray Road, West Melbourne.

Curating the Atmosphere

In a statement cited by Rolling Stone Australia, Cook emphasized his desire to move away from massive, sterilized festival stages. “For this tour to Australia I wanted to get up close with my people, play venues with real atmosphere and have a proper party,” he said. “Bridges, rivers, parks, old railway sheds – if it’s a bit weird and the sound system’s loud enough, I’m there.”

This strategic shift follows his 2025 ‘Fatboy Slim Loves Australia’ tour, which focused on picturesque regional sites and vineyards. By selecting venues like the heritage bays of Carriageworks and the industrial backdrop of West Melbourne, the production team aims to leverage raw urban aesthetics to complement the high-energy nature of his performances.

Legacy and Setlist Expectations

The 2027 tour comes as Cook marks the 30th anniversary of his debut album, Better Living Through Chemistry. Fans can expect a mix of iconic staples such as “Praise You,” “Right Here, Right Now,” and “Weapon of Choice,” alongside newer material. Billboard notes that the setlists will likely incorporate recent releases, including the collaborative track “Funk Drunk” and his mash-up of The Rolling Stones’ “Satisfaction,” titled “Satisfaction Skank.”

Presale registration for the tour opens on September 14, 2026, at 9:00 AM local time, with general ticket sales beginning the following day, September 15, at 9:00 AM local time.
