The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced a nationwide recall for specific lots of Pedigree High Protein Chopped Chicken & Duck Flavor wet dog food. The recall, initiated by Mars Petcare, involves 13.2-ounce cans that may contain sharp fragments of metal or plastic.

The affected products were identified as having failed internal quality control standards. According to official reports, these items were intended for destruction by a third party but were instead fraudulently diverted and sold into the retail marketplace.

While no illnesses or injuries have been reported to date, the FDA warns that ingestion of these foreign materials can lead to serious health complications for pets, including choking, gastrointestinal lacerations, and internal blockages. Pet owners should remain vigilant for symptoms such as vomiting, loss of appetite, drooling, or unusual fatigue.
