GAZA CITY (Azat TV) – Hamas has vehemently denounced an Israeli airstrike targeting a police vehicle in the Gaza Strip, which resulted in the deaths of the Director of the Central Governorate Intervention Police, Colonel Iyad Abu Yusuf, and eight accompanying officers. The group characterized the attack as a direct continuation of “brutal crimes” by the “criminal Zionist enemy air force” and a deliberate effort to sow chaos.
Hamas Denounces “Fascist Occupation Government”
In a statement, Hamas asserted that the bombing of the police car by Israeli forces reveals the “true face of the occupation” and its “exposed policy” aimed at perpetuating a war of extermination and exacerbating the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza. The group further accused the Israeli government of disregarding its obligations under a ceasefire agreement signed months prior.
Call for International Intervention
Hamas called for an urgent response from mediators, the international community, and its institutions to curb what it described as the “terrorist occupation entity’s” alleged crimes. The statement urged these bodies to compel Israel to cease its repeated targeting of innocent civilians and civilian institutions in Gaza, and to halt its “widespread and unprecedented violations of international laws and norms.”
The statement from Hamas underscores the ongoing tensions and the deep-seated animosity between the group and Israeli forces, framing the incident as a violation of international law and a deliberate escalation aimed at destabilizing the region.
