The Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO) has officially partnered with technology giant Meta, designating the company as the official AI wearables partner for the T100 Triathlon World Tour. The collaboration, announced in July 2026, aims to transform digital sports broadcasting and fan experience by integrating advanced wearable technology directly into elite and amateur competition environments.
Under the new agreement, professional athletes, race officials, and supporters will utilize Oakley Meta Vanguard and HSTN Performance AI glasses. These AI-powered devices are designed to capture first-person, hands-free footage and behind-the-scenes content during training sessions and race weekends, offering audiences an unprecedented, direct look at the physical intensity, strategic decisions, and emotional highs of the sport.
Stuart Ramsey, the Chief Commercial Officer of the PTO, emphasized that the partnership aligns with the organization’s push for digital innovation. Ramsey noted that while triathletes already heavily rely on wearable technology to monitor and optimize performance, the hands-free capabilities of the Oakley Meta Vanguard glasses allow for seamless, high-quality content capture during active training and competitive racing. To build a richer community narrative, the initiative will also involve friends, family members, and official personnel, who will contribute their own perspectives to the T100’s social and digital platforms.
The deployment of AI-powered wearables is a core element of the PTO’s long-term commercial strategy. By providing immersive, athlete-centric storytelling, the organization seeks to broaden the global appeal of triathlon and attract new demographics. This digital expansion serves as a key preparatory step ahead of the planned 2027 launch of the unified Triathlon World Tour, where immersive media and real-time digital experiences are projected to play a central role in the sport’s global broadcasting and commercial growth.
The content captured through the Oakley Meta Vanguard and HSTN Performance AI glasses will be distributed across the T100’s official digital and social media channels. This approach is intended to bridge the gap between elite athletes and fans, making the highly demanding sport of triathlon more accessible and interactive. By leveraging Meta’s technological infrastructure, the PTO hopes to establish a new standard for first-person perspective integration in endurance sports broadcasting.
