A Watershed Opening Night in Orlando
Julian Hall’s transformation from an academy prospect into a definitive senior starter crystallized on February 21, 2026. Handed his first Opening Day start by head coach Michael Bradley, the 17-year-old forward repaid that trust immediately against Orlando City. According to Sports Illustrated, Hall tracked Emil Forsberg’s run into the penalty box in the eighth minute, positioning himself at the back post to finish cleanly. Before the interval, he pounced on a bouncing cross to secure a first-half brace, steering the New York Red Bulls to a 2 Red Bull New York–1 victory that altered his trajectory.
“With my coach, Michael, and the rest of the coaching staff in the organization trusting me to start the first game of the season, that was huge for me and my confidence,” Hall reflected. Reflecting on his initial doubts about holding a permanent role, he noted that the faith shown by the technical staff provided the necessary psychological boost to compete at the professional level week in and week out.
Setting League Milestones and Earning All-Star Honors
That initial performance unlocked a prolific scoring run. By mid-May, Hall had accumulated 10 additional goals across all competitions, culminating in a historic milestone on May 13, 2026. In a 3–2 victory over the Columbus Crew, Hall scored a hat-trick to become the youngest player in Major League Soccer history to achieve the feat, doing so at 18 years and 50 days old. That spring form earned him selection as an MLS All-Star in July, making him the youngest player named to the league-wide roster.
The foundation for these senior achievements was laid during his progression through the club’s development system. Having joined the New York Red Bulls Academy from New York City FC in 2020 at the age of 12, Hall scored 28 goals in 39 academy appearances. He led the U-15 side to the 2023 MLS NEXT Cup title, claiming the tournament’s MVP award, and secured the Golden Boot at the Generation adidas Cup. Following a brief stint with Red Bulls II in MLS Next Pro, where he scored 10 goals in 22 appearances, Hall signed a three-year first-team contract in September 2023 and debuted later that month against the Chicago Fire at 15 years and 190 days old, according to Wikipedia.
An Immediate Transition to the International Stage
Hall’s domestic success naturally caught the attention of the senior U.S. Men’s National Team. Eligible to represent both the United States and Poland due to his mother’s heritage, the dual-national forward received his maiden senior call-up from head coach Mauricio Pochettino for the September and October 2026 international window. He made his debut on September 26, entering as a substitute and scoring in a 4–1 friendly victory over Peru, while also providing an assist for Sebastian Berhalter.
Three days later, making his first international start against Chile, Hall scored an equalizer with a header from a Gio Reyna cross in a 4–2 win, establishing himself as the youngest player in USMNT history to score in each of his first two appearances. He continued that scoring streak on October 3 by netting the opening goal in a 3–0 win over Mexico, once again converting a cross from Reyna. This accomplishment placed him alongside historic company as only the third player in national team history to score in each of his first three appearances, following Alex Rae in 1937 and Eddie Johnson in 2004 and 2005.
