Irish national broadcaster RTÉ has confirmed it will air Katie Taylor’s farewell professional boxing match live and free-to-air across television and digital platforms on September 5, 2026. The Olympic champion and multi-weight world titleholder will face undefeated French fighter Flora Pili at Dublin’s Croke Park, putting all major belts in the super-lightweight division on the line in her career swansong.
According to RTÉ, the event will be broadcast live on RTÉ Two and streamed on the RTÉ Player, alongside live radio commentary on 2FM. The bout marks the first professional boxing spectacle held at the iconic 80,000-capacity Croke Park venue since July 1972, when heavyweight legend Muhammad Ali defeated Al “Blue” Lewis before a crowd of 17,000 spectators.
RTÉ Head of Sport Declan McBennett highlighted the historical resonance of the network broadcasting Taylor’s final contest, noting that the public broadcaster covered her early career as an amateur prior to her London 2012 Olympic gold medal and subsequent professional unification runs. McBennett described Taylor as one of Ireland’s paramount sporting figures, emphasizing that concluding her career before a sold-out stadium and national television audience reflects her profound domestic impact.
Addressing the significance of fighting at Croke Park, Taylor previously shared on social media that her motivation centered on elevating women’s boxing and building a lasting legacy for future generations of female athletes. The 39-year-old Irish icon will defend her undisputed status against Pili, who enters the contest aiming to disrupt Taylor’s planned celebratory farewell.
