LOS ANGELES – J-pop sensation YOASOBI, the powerhouse duo consisting of composer Ayase and vocalist ikura, has officially concluded its highly anticipated “Never Ending Stories” North American tour. Promoted by global entertainment giant Live Nation, the six-date run drew over 70,000 fans, establishing new milestones for Japanese music in the West and solidifying the group’s rapidly expanding international footprint.
Breaking Historic Venue Boundaries
According to reports from music industry outlet CelebrityAccess, the tour featured several historic firsts for Japanese artists. YOASOBI became the first J-pop act to perform at and completely sell out the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. They followed this landmark achievement by closing their tour at the legendary Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, marking the first time a J-pop artist has ever headlined the iconic venue.
In addition to these solo arena and amphitheater shows, the tour included high-profile festival appearances. YOASOBI returned to Lollapalooza in Chicago for a second appearance, performing on the festival’s prestigious Main Stage. They also made their debut at OSHEAGA in Montreal, becoming the first-ever J-pop act to perform at the Canadian festival. The tour’s final stop in Los Angeles showcased the massive crossover appeal of the duo, with fans from diverse cultural backgrounds singing along in Japanese, demonstrating how their music transcends traditional language barriers.
From Viral Beginnings to Global Domination
Formed in late 2019, YOASOBI’s rise has been characterized by record-breaking digital metrics. Their debut single, “Into The Night” (Yoru ni Kakeru), released in November 2019, quickly topped domestic and international viral charts. By January 2023, the song surpassed 900 million streams on Billboard Japan, a historic first for any artist in the country. In 2021, Spotify named them the most-played Japanese artist internationally, and TIME magazine recognized their single “Monster” (Kaibutsu) as one of the ten best songs of the year.
The duo’s global momentum reached unprecedented heights with the 2023 release of “Idol,” the opening theme for the anime series Oshi no Ko. The track spent an astonishing 22 consecutive weeks at number one on the Billboard Japan Hot 100, broke the record for the fastest single to reach 100 million streams in Japan, and peaked at number one on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart. This mainstream crossover has been further supported by physical releases, including their latest compilation, THE BOOK 4, and a highly sought-after Overwatch Edition vinyl released in partnership with Blizzard Entertainment’s popular video game.
Connecting Directly with the Fanbase
To celebrate the conclusion of the “Never Ending Stories” tour, YOASOBI partnered with youth culture media brand Complex for a special two-day pop-up event on Fairfax Avenue in Los Angeles on August 18 and 19, 2026. The event featured exclusive merchandise and a rare signing session where fans could get their Japan Exclusive Edit vinyl of THE BOOK signed directly by Ayase and ikura.
The duo emphasized that this tour was not a conclusion, but rather the opening chapter of an even larger global strategy. “We promise we’ll be back, bigger and better than ever,” the band shared in a statement following their Hollywood Bowl performance.
The Next Chapter: Stadiums of Asia
YOASOBI is already preparing for their next massive undertaking. Starting in October 2026, the duo will embark on the “YOASOBI ASIA 10-CITY DOME & STADIUM TOUR 2026-2027 ‘Cho Wakusei’” (Super Planet). Carrying the momentum and massive production values developed during their North American run, the upcoming tour will take them to the largest stadium venues across Asia, representing a major step up in venue capacity and production scale as they continue to redefine the global reach of modern J-pop.
