Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche has launched “Super Japon,” a comprehensive exhibition exploring Japanese aesthetics and design, running from August 29 to October 18, 2026. The event coincides with Paris Design Week, which takes place from September 10 to 19, 2026, turning the department store into a primary venue for creative installations and cultural exchange.
The “Super Japon” route spans multiple sections of the store, including the Home department. It features collaborations with institutions such as the Mobilier national, which is highlighting creative intersections between French and Japanese traditions. Other contributors include FRAMA, which has developed a sensory olfactory installation, and USM, which has constructed a meditative pavilion featuring photography by Michael Kenna alongside technology from Samsung.
Curators have integrated references to traditional Japanese design philosophies, including wabi-sabi and the Mono-ha movement, alongside works by iconic designers such as Isamu Noguchi and Charlotte Perriand. The exhibition also incorporates elements of contemporary Japanese culture, such as “konbini”-style retail displays, street food, and beauty products.
Located at 24 Rue de Sèvres, 75007 Paris, the exhibition is free to the public. Visitors can access the store via the Sèvres Babylone metro station (lines 10 and 12). The store is open daily from 10:00 to 19:45, with Sunday hours beginning at 11:00.
