A New Era for Seasonal Reveals
NetEase has officially moved away from standard patch note releases for Marvel Rivals, opting for a dedicated livestream broadcast to unveil the content for Season 9. The premiere, which took place on July 7, 2026, marks a significant shift in the developer’s communication strategy, treating the seasonal update as a major event rather than a routine content drop.
While previous seasons relied on social media posts and standard updates, the inclusion of a high-production broadcast suggests that NetEase intends to elevate the game’s profile. According to official announcements, the new season will introduce fresh hero additions, a new map, and a revamped Battle Pass.
Leaked Roster Expansions
Leaked data and industry reports indicate that the Season 9 roster will be headlined by two notable characters: Jubilee and The Hood. In a departure from her traditional comic book role, Jubilee is reportedly classified as a Strategist. Analysts suggest this move aims to provide more aggressive support options, contrasting with the passive playstyles currently present in the support pool.
The Hood is also expected to join the fray as a Vanguard. His kit, which reportedly utilizes clone mechanics, is designed to disrupt enemy positioning, making him a unique addition to the game’s tank lineup. These characters are tied to the ongoing “Age of Apocalypse” storyline, which has been teased throughout the previous season.
Release Timeline and Map Updates
The new season is scheduled to go live on Friday, July 10, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. UTC. Players can expect server maintenance to conclude between 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. UTC. Alongside the new heroes, the game is set to introduce a new map codenamed “Thebes,” an ancient Egyptian-themed location that aligns with the season’s overarching narrative arc. While one hero will debut at the season’s launch, the second is expected to arrive during the mid-season 9.5 update, approximately four weeks later.
