New Titles for Nintendo Switch 2

Nintendo’s September 9, 2026, Direct presentation provided a clearer roadmap for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, featuring a mix of new franchise installments and classic revivals. The showcase confirmed that the company is prioritizing major internal IPs to support its hardware transition, with high-profile titles such as Metroid Ravenous and Kirby and the World Beyond leading the charge.

Metroid Ravenous, a new 2D side-scrolling adventure, is scheduled for release on January 28, 2027, according to IGN. The game will be accompanied by a Special Edition bundle and new amiibo figures. Meanwhile, Kirby and the World Beyond, a 3D adventure exploring the series’ 35th anniversary, is slated for a spring 2027 launch.

Third-Party Support and Ports

The presentation also highlighted significant third-party support. Atlus confirmed that Persona 4 Revival will arrive on May 20, 2027, with Persona 6 also currently in development for the platform. Other notable announcements included Mega Man: Dual Override (spring 2027) and Eternal Anima (March 4, 2027), a JRPG from Marvelous Europe that builds on the project previously teased as “PROJECT LIFE is RPG.”

Capcom’s influence remains strong, with a trio of Resident Evil titles—Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition—launching on October 16, 2026. Additionally, Metal Slug Ultimate Collection is set to bring 10 classic titles to the Switch 2 in 2027, featuring expanded content and online multiplayer.

Ongoing Service Updates

Nintendo is also leveraging its existing ecosystem, announcing a free 1.8.0 update for Mario Kart World. Available immediately, the update adds 10 classic courses from the original Super Mario Kart, such as Choco Island and Ghost Valley, along with two new Knockout Tour routes. Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, which utilizes the hardware’s motion capabilities, is set to launch exclusively for the Switch 2 on October 22, 2026.

Notable Absences

Despite the influx of announcements, industry observers noted the absence of The Duskbloods, a FromSoftware exclusive previously expected for 2026. With the calendar year closing, the lack of a firm release date or a delay confirmation leaves a gap in the console’s early software library, signaling potential pressure on Nintendo to finalize its 2026-2027 release schedule.
