The remains of legendary Hong Kong actor Patrick Tse, who died in July at the age of 89, have been interred at the Po Fook Hill Columbarium. The site, a prominent resting place for many of Hong Kong’s entertainment elite, now houses the memorial tablet of the man affectionately known as “Sei Gor” or “Fourth Brother.”
The placement of his ashes was officially confirmed alongside a heartfelt public tribute from his daughter, actress-model Jennifer Tse. The memorial tablet features his legal name, Tse Ka Yuk, his birth and death years, and his ancestral home in Panyu, Guangdong province. Notably, the portrait selected for the niche depicts Tse with his iconic, ever-present sunglasses and a signature smile, a nod to the persona that defined his decades-long career.
A Legacy of Hong Kong Cinema
Patrick Tse’s career spanned the golden age of Hong Kong cinema, establishing him as one of the region’s most recognizable faces. His passing in July, which was kept private until after his cremation on July 20, followed a career marked by both artistic achievement and significant public interest. By choosing Po Fook Hill, Tse joins a cohort of departed industry legends, including singer-actor Leslie Cheung, actress-host Lydia Sum, and singer Roman Tam.
On August 9, what would have been his 90th birthday, family and fans reflected on his contribution to the arts. Jennifer Tse shared nostalgic family photographs on social media, expressing the difficulty of the mourning process. “Saying goodbye to you was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do in my life,” she wrote. “But I hope you’re happy and free now. And I’m sure wherever you are, it’s so bright and beautiful that wearing sunglasses all the time is totally normal.”

In accordance with the family’s wishes, Patrick Tse’s funeral was a low-key, private ceremony. The family maintained a respectful distance from media inquiries during the grieving period, emphasizing a desire for dignity in their farewell. Tse is survived by his two children, singer-actor Nicholas Tse and Jennifer Tse, from his marriage to Deborah Lee. His life also included an earlier marriage to Taiwanese actress Chen Chen.
