PSG Targets Belgian Forward
Paris Saint-Germain has opened official talks to sign Ajax winger Mika Godts, marking a significant development in the French club’s summer recruitment strategy. The 21-year-old Belgian international has emerged as a primary target for the Parisians, who are looking to bolster their attacking options amid potential departures in their forward line.
According to reports from Fabrizio Romano and Voetbal International’s Tim van Duijn, PSG technical director Luis Campos has already engaged in preliminary discussions, with Godts recently spotted in Porto. This move aligns with PSG’s broader efforts to refresh their squad, potentially alongside the acquisition of Monaco’s Maghnes Akliouche.
The €60 Million Valuation
Ajax remains in a strong negotiating position despite a challenging domestic campaign. The Eredivisie side finished fifth last season—their lowest points total since 1962—but Godts proved to be a rare bright spot, contributing 17 goals and 13 assists in 34 league appearances. Consequently, Ajax has set a valuation in the region of €60 million for the young winger, signaling their reluctance to part with a player who is seen as central to their rebuilding project.
Player Stance vs. Transfer Reality
Despite the high-profile interest, Godts has publicly expressed a desire to remain in Amsterdam. In a recent interview with Ziggo Sport, the Belgian stated that he was happy at the Johan Cruyff ArenA and focused on challenging for the title next season, noting that the club’s internal environment is improving. However, he acknowledged the fluid nature of the transfer market, stating, “We’ll have to see,” when asked about the possibility of a major club approach.
PSG’s interest is partially driven by the uncertain future of Bradley Barcola, who has been linked with a move to Liverpool. With the French giants also monitoring players like Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Désiré Doué, the pursuit of Godts highlights an aggressive shift toward securing high-output creative wingers.
