Speaking to the club’s official media channel, Collins emphasized that his initial objective is to immerse himself in the club’s environment and understand its recent struggles. “My remit is to come in, get the feel for it, listen to the supporters, and try to figure out how a club this small got into such a financial mess,” Collins stated. He added that he intends to relocate to the region permanently to become an “integral part of the club,” acting as a conduit between the fans, the staff, and the consortium of owners.
Collins revealed that the offer came while he was on holiday in Spain. Despite the challenges facing the club, he expressed a strong affinity for the “real football” environment at the National League South level, suggesting that the project offers more personal satisfaction than a purely administrative role at a higher-tier club.
