Where to Stream the Manchester Detective Series
Television viewers searching for a new crime series can now stream all five seasons of Scott & Bailey for free on ITVX, according to a report by Esquire. Created by Sally Wainwright—the writer behind BBC’s Happy Valley—the police procedural originally focused on the personal and professional lives of two female detectives within a Manchester Police murder investigation unit.
Cast and Critical Reception Across Five Seasons
The series stars Lesley Sharp as Detective Constable Janet Scott and Suranne Jones as Detective Constable Rachel Bailey, alongside Amelia Bullmore as Detective Chief Inspector Gill Murray, Nicholas Gleaves as Detective Sergeant Andy Roper, and Danny Miller as Detective Sergeant Rob Waddington. Over its five-season run, the program featured notable guest stars including Rupert Graves, House of the Dragon actor Steve Toussaint, and Nicola Walker.
Critical response remained strong throughout the show’s broadcast, with particular acclaim directed toward the third season. Reviewing that season for The Guardian, Julia Raeside described the performances of Bullmore and Walker as an “incredible acting masterclass that will take your breath away,” while praising the program overall as “truly gripping and the jewel in ITV’s increasingly impressive drama crown.”
