Legal Battle Over Production Safety
Stavros Floros, a former contestant on the Greek reality series Survivor, has filed a lawsuit in Miami seeking over $100 million in damages from the show’s production company, Acun Medya, and broadcaster Skai TV. The litigation follows a catastrophic accident during the filming of the show in the Dominican Republic, which resulted in the partial amputation of Floros’ left leg and severe damage to his right ankle.
According to court filings reported by The Independent, the incident occurred on May 11 when a tourist boat’s propeller struck Floros while he was spearfishing. The lawsuit alleges that the producers were aware of the heavy and dangerous boat traffic in the area and failed to implement adequate safety protocols to protect the cast members.

Allegations of Negligence
Floros’ legal team, led by attorney Jason Margulies, argues that the production company prioritized profit over the physical safety of its participants. “This is an egregious matter where a young and successful influencer has been left with catastrophic permanent injuries as a result of the callous disregard for safety,” Margulies stated. The lawsuit claims that the production had a duty of care to ensure the environment was safe for activities like diving and fishing, a duty they allegedly failed to uphold.
In a statement to TheWrap, Floros described his experience as a slow, near-death ordeal. He spent 61 days hospitalized in Miami, undergoing multiple surgeries to treat his injuries and manage severe blood loss. “I want the world to know the truth: that I went onto a reality show and ended up with only one leg at 22 years old,” he said.
Production Company and Broadcaster Responses
Acun Medya has maintained that the incident took place during a break in official filming and outside of the competitive process. In a statement, the company noted that an investigation is currently underway to determine the circumstances of the accident, adding that they provided immediate assistance and transportation for the injured contestant.
Skai TV, the Greek broadcaster that airs the program, responded by suspending the series immediately after the news broke. The network clarified that while the production is exclusively under the control of Acun Medya, they are actively monitoring Floros’ health and have committed to supporting his ongoing treatment and rehabilitation costs.
