The hit medical drama The Pitt has secured the top spot in this year’s Primetime Emmy race, earning 25 nominations as announced by the Television Academy on Thursday. The series, which saw major success in its rookie year, continues to dominate the acting categories, with stars Noah Wyle and Katherine LaNasa among those recognized.
Following closely behind, the acclaimed comedy Hacks received 24 nominations for its final season, setting a new record for the most nods ever earned by a comedy series. HBO Max led all networks and platforms with a total of 122 nominations, supported by strong showings from The Pitt and its other acclaimed programming.
Other notable mentions include Apple TV’s Pluribus and Widow’s Bay, which performed strongly in their debut seasons with 18 and 19 nominations respectively. Netflix’s Beef led the limited or anthology series categories with 16 nominations. The 78th Primetime Emmy Awards, hosted by Mariska Hargitay, are scheduled to air on NBC on September 14.
Additionally, the Wellington-based visual effects studio Wētā FX received a nomination for their work on the final season of Netflix’s Stranger Things, marking a significant international recognition for the team.
