Tour director Christian Prudhomme confirmed the necessity of the move, stating that the event must prioritize the safety of the public and ensure that emergency services remain unhindered. Prefect Pierre Regnault de la Mothe noted that the publicity caravan has been canceled for the French portion of the stage, leaving only riders and essential organizational vehicles on the roads.

The fire, which has consumed approximately 1,500 hectares of land, is currently situated about 70 kilometers from the finish line. While the race continues, the atmosphere in the high-altitude village of Les Angles remains subdued. Local officials and state services in the Pyrénées-Orientales have issued clear directives to the public to avoid the route, emphasizing that the mobilization of firefighters and rescue personnel must remain the primary focus.
This adaptation of the 196-kilometer route underscores the growing intersection between professional sports logistics and climate-related environmental threats.
