The incident occurred with 4:38 remaining in the period, forcing a stoppage in play that lasted several minutes.
The situation escalated after Young inbounded the basketball and appeared to motion toward the fans seated in the front row, directly across from the Aces’ bench. She subsequently spoke to a referee, prompting security to intervene. Initially, a woman seated in the front row was removed from the arena, though she was later assisted back to her seat. Shortly thereafter, the two men seated near her were escorted out of the building.
Player Response and Official Stance
Following the Aces’ 86-84 overtime victory—secured by a last-second 3-pointer from Chelsea Gray—Young addressed the confrontation with reporters. While she did not disclose the specific comments made by the fans, she indicated that the discourse had crossed a line. “He was just chirping all game,” Young said. “I let him have it, and then he just made one that was a little bit too far.”
Despite the disruption, Young expressed satisfaction with the arena’s handling of the situation. “They did the right thing,” she added. “Obviously, we don’t want to see fans get kicked out, but at the end of the day, we’re human too. So let’s just show up to games, have fun and not take it too far.”
