A Major Casting Shift for the Dominion Theatre
The West End production of The Devil Wears Prada is set for a significant transition as lead stars Vanessa Williams and Matt Henry announce their departures from the show. According to official reports from LondonTheatre.co.uk and BroadwayWorld, the pair, who have anchored the production since its December 2024 premiere, will exit the show this autumn.
Vanessa Williams, who has garnered critical praise for her portrayal of the formidable editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly, is scheduled to play her final performance on 19 September 2026. Matt Henry, who stars as the creative fashion director Nigel, will conclude his run shortly after on 17 October 2026.
Maintaining Momentum
Since opening at the Dominion Theatre, The Devil Wears Prada has become the fastest-selling show in the venue’s history. The production, which features music by Elton John and direction by Jerry Mitchell, has relied heavily on the star power of Williams and Henry to drive ticket sales and maintain its high profile in the competitive London theatre market.
Producers Kevin McCollum, David Furnish, and Jamie Wilson have not yet announced the successors for the lead roles. The search for the next Miranda Priestly and Nigel represents a critical juncture for the musical as it looks to sustain its popularity following the loss of its marquee performers.
The show, based on Lauren Weisberger’s 2003 novel and the 2006 Twentieth Century Studios film, continues to perform to capacity crowds. The existing cast, including Stevie Doc as Andy, will remain with the production as it enters this new phase of casting.
