Israel will cease hostilities in the Gaza Strip if the Palestinian Hamas movement releases the hostages held in the enclave. This was reported to journalists by Denny Danon, Israel’s permanent representative to the UN.
“It would be a miracle, and I believe it would stop our activities in Gaza,” he said in response to a question about what Israel’s response would be to the return of hostages held in the enclave. “In fact, it could happen tomorrow morning if Hamas releases the hostages, but unfortunately, I’m not optimistic that it can happen.”
