Australian supermarket chain Woolworths is introducing a limited-edition handbag designed to resemble its popular hot roast chicken packaging, a product widely known among shoppers as the “Bachelor’s Handbag.” The retail release bridges grocery culture and fashion by turning a packaging design for a staple food item into a wearable novelty accessory.
According to Woolworths, more than 20 million hot roast chickens are sold annually across its stores. Rhonda Ma, the supermarket’s General Manager of Bags, stated that the playful accessory reflects how deeply integrated the food item has become in Australian daily life. “It shows you just how much the product fits into everyday life as the ultimate grab-and-go solution,” Ma noted in the announcement.
Design Features and Pricing Details
Despite its novelty design mimicking grocery packaging, the accessory includes practical utility features. Woolworths equipped the item with built-in thermal insulation, a sturdy carrying handle, and a detachable, adjustable strap intended for daily commutes and weekend outings.
The handbags are scheduled to launch on October 14 at select Woolworths locations, priced at $10 each. Company representatives have confirmed that the product will be available in limited supplies, though retail packaging will not include an actual hot roast chicken inside.
