Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held separate meetings today with $1 Donald Trump and UK Labour Party leader Keir Starmer, according to posts on his official Twitter account (@ZelenskyyUa). The discussions focused on efforts to establish a ceasefire and ensure future security guarantees for Ukraine.
Meeting with Donald Trump
Regarding his meeting with Donald Trump, Zelenskyy described it as a “Good meeting” that included “a lot one on one.” He expressed hope for “results on everything we covered.” According to his tweet, key topics discussed included “Protecting lives of our people. Full and unconditional ceasefire. Reliable and lasting peace that will prevent another war from breaking out.” Zelenskyy characterized the meeting as “Very symbolic” with “potential to become historic, if we achieve joint results,” and thanked Trump.
Meeting with Keir Starmer
Zelenskyy also reported on a meeting with Keir Starmer. He stated that “The steps necessary to establish a full, unconditional ceasefire and to develop further security guarantees were the main topics of our discussion.” The leaders also summarized the outcomes of recent meetings involving representatives of Ukraine, the United States, France, the United Kingdom, and Germany that took place in Paris and London. Zelenskyy added that they “will continue our work within the Coalition of the Willing.”
