Transfer Agreement Reached
Arsenal have agreed to a deal with Turkish side Besiktas for the transfer of Belgian forward Leandro Trossard, according to reports from The Athletic. The deal is valued at approximately €20 million (£17.1 million), which includes an initial fee of €18 million and an additional €2 million in performance-related add-ons.
Trossard, 31, is currently representing Belgium at the World Cup. Sources indicate that while the clubs have reached an agreement in principle, formal completion of the transfer is not expected until after Belgium’s campaign concludes. The player is currently in final negotiations regarding personal terms and his salary, which is reported to be in the region of €9 million.
A Successful Tenure in North London
Since joining Arsenal from Brighton & Hove Albion in January 2023 for £27 million, Trossard has become a pivotal figure in Mikel Arteta’s squad. His tenure included 36 goals and 34 assists across all competitions. During the 2025-26 season, Trossard played a significant role in helping Arsenal secure their first Premier League title since 2004.
Known for his versatility across the attacking line, Trossard proved to be a reliable option during injury-prone periods for the roster. His performance, particularly his 83rd-minute winner against West Ham on May 10, was widely cited as a defining moment in the club’s successful title race.
Strategic Exit
With one year remaining on his contract, the sale represents a strategic move for Arsenal. By recouping a significant portion of his initial transfer fee for a player entering his mid-30s, the club aims to refresh its attacking options. Trossard leaves the club with a cemented legacy as a key contributor to Arsenal’s recent domestic success.
