Campbell’s Concessions, a Des Moines-based food vendor, has debuted a new P.B. and J. flavor for their signature corn dogs at the ongoing Clay County Fair. Gage Campbell, a fourth-generation operator of the family business, confirmed the addition as part of their rotation of state fair menu items.
The introduction of the peanut butter and jelly-themed snack coincides with adjustments to the vendor’s long-standing menu. According to Northwest Iowa Now, Campbell confirmed that the popular bacon-wrapped corn dog, a staple in previous years, has been retired from the menu for the current fair season.
While the company is promoting the new PB&J variation, Gage Campbell noted to KICD News that consumer interest has unexpectedly gravitated toward a different specialty corn dog option currently offered at their stand. The vendor remains a fixture at the fairgrounds, following a week of competition where other local concessions, such as Baskin, secured top honors including the Best New Food ribbon and the People’s Choice award for their Peach Cobbler Donuts.
